About Amanda

Amanda Domondon serves as Executive Team Leader for HR at Target in Sacramento, California. With 23 years in the retail industry, she began her career at age 16 and has developed expertise in people management, HR operations including hiring, training, development, and payroll, as well as store operations. She earned an AA from City College and a BA from Sacramento State while balancing work and family responsibilities as a single mother. Domondon is actively involved in community initiatives such as Run for the Hungry, Pride for Sacramento, Shriners events, and serving at the Women's Spring Health shelter soup kitchen, for which she received a community award from her district out of 13 stores. She values being ethical, doing the right thing, and being good to people, and attributes her success to working hard, being consistent, and never giving up, inspired by her mother's example in retail management. In her role, she navigates challenges like high expectations and burnout for middle managers while maintaining strong team support.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Amanda

01What do you attribute your success to?

Working hard like my mom did, being consistent, and never giving up. My mom worked really hard in retail as a manager but didn't promote to balance family, and watching her taught me consistency and perseverance.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Treat everybody as an individual with different needs based on their life stage and generation, rather than treating everyone exactly the same.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Advocate for yourself. Let leaders know your goals so you get opportunities like promotions and interviews.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

High expectations and burnout for middle managers, despite good support like budgets for team events.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Being ethical, doing the right thing, and being good to people.
