Her Story
About Amanda
Amanda Flores is a Sales Manager based in Douglasville, working in the telecommunications and public safety communications industry. She serves in a dual role as Sales Manager and Sales Associate at Loudoun Communications Inc, a third-generation, predominantly women-led family business specializing in mission-critical communications systems. Her work focuses on building and maintaining relationships with state agencies and public safety organizations across Georgia, where she has developed a strong professional network over more than a decade.
Her career began in the automotive sector, where she worked in sales and service roles at companies including AutoNation Toyota, Nissan South Morrow, and Pete Moore Imports. She later transitioned into the family business in 2015, initially as a temporary step, before establishing a long-term career in public safety technology sales. Within Loudoun Communications Inc., she manages the full sales lifecycle, including project coordination, customer support, financial follow-ups, and margin oversight, ensuring reliable delivery of critical communication systems such as two-way radios, interoperability solutions, and patented outdoor warning siren systems.
Amanda studied at Pensacola State College, where she completed coursework in nursing before shifting her professional path. Beyond her technical and sales responsibilities, she is deeply connected to her family-oriented business legacy, which spans three generations. Outside of work, she values family life and cultural connection, including annual travel traditions, and brings a relationship-driven approach to her role in a high-stakes, male-dominated industry where reliability and trust are essential.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Amanda
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my background in sales and my ability to communicate confidently in high-trust, high-value situations. From my early experience as a service writer in the automotive industry to my current role handling complex equipment sales, I’ve learned how to clearly explain value and guide customers through significant purchasing decisions. While quoting high-cost solutions—such as a $10,000 mobile radio—can be challenging, I focus on building trust by emphasizing product reliability, warranties, and long-term value. My outgoing personality allows me to connect easily with people, and growing up around this industry has given me strong product knowledge and the confidence to speak credibly with clients.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received came from early mentors in the industry who instilled in me the confidence to trust myself and the products I represent. They encouraged me to walk into every situation prepared and self-assured, which has been foundational to how I approach my work. I was also deeply influenced by a woman named Danielle, who oversaw product lines for one of our vendors. She carried herself with strength, intelligence, and confidence in a male-dominated space, and she never backed down in business discussions. Watching her operate reinforced my own confidence and shaped the way I aspire to show up professionally.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to lead with confidence and trust in your knowledge. You have to carry yourself in a way that shows you belong, because in a male-dominated space, confidence often sets the tone for how you’re received. At the same time, I always encourage staying grounded in your values and integrity, even when pressure or shortcuts may seem tempting. This industry can reward short-term wins, but I’ve learned over time that consistency, honesty, and doing things the right way build lasting credibility and success. For me, staying true to my moral principles over the past 11 years has been key to earning respect and establishing a strong reputation.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field right now is staffing. Because we work in first-line communications—where the equipment we provide is used in critical, high-pressure situations like police pursuits or hostage incidents—there is absolutely no room for error. That level of responsibility requires staff who are reliable, fully committed, and able to see projects through from start to finish, which can be difficult to find. Another challenge is maintaining work-life balance, as the demands of the role are constant and often extend beyond standard hours. At the same time, this creates opportunity in the sense that strong, dependable professionals are highly valued, and those who can consistently deliver at a high level quickly become essential to the success and continuity of the business.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My most important values in both my work and personal life are my faith and my family, which guide how I conduct myself in every situation. In my professional role, I also place a strong emphasis on integrity and doing things the right way, even in an industry where there can be pressure, politics, and ethical gray areas. I’ve encountered situations where those dynamics are very real, but I remain committed to transparency and ensuring that public safety needs are prioritized over any outside influence. After more than a decade in this field, many of my clients feel more like family, and that sense of responsibility reinforces my commitment to honesty, accountability, and doing what is right regardless of external pressure.
