Amanda Gay
Amanda Gay built her career in roofing through resilience, determination, and a willingness to embrace unexpected opportunities. After COVID eliminated her hospital role in purchasing and contracts in 2020, she entered the roofing industry with Green Tech Roofing and Solutions in Tampa, where she managed purchasing and job coordination. Amanda quickly recognized the long-term opportunities within the industry and transitioned into distribution, joining SRS Distribution in Tampa. Working under one of the company’s top national sales representatives, she gained invaluable experience in relationship-building, business development, and the inner workings of the roofing market.
Amanda’s career continued to evolve as she moved from distribution into outside sales and ultimately into manufacturing with Brava Roof Tile. Today, as Director of Field Training and Engagement, she leads national training strategies, contractor education, market activation, and field engagement efforts across the United States. She travels extensively to host events, educate contractors on Brava’s products and programs, and help roofing professionals strengthen their businesses in an increasingly competitive market. Amanda is known for going beyond product education, helping contractors learn how to differentiate themselves, improve customer communication, and create sustainable growth strategies.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Amanda is a passionate advocate for women in the roofing industry and a dedicated leader within National Women in Roofing. She began as a member, later served as president of the Tampa-area chapter, and now serves on the organization’s national board of directors. Amanda’s leadership philosophy is rooted in education, integrity, and service, and she has earned recognition for her impact on both the industry and her community. One of her proudest achievements was leading a collaborative effort among contractors, distributors, and manufacturers to provide free roof replacements for a local Hope House property serving first-time expectant mothers.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to mentorship and learning where I can be different and establish myself from everybody else who's already in this industry. Working under the number one sales rep for the entire country of SRS taught me so much, from the industry itself to relationship building on a different level. That mentorship was invaluable in shaping my approach and helping me understand what success looks like when you're coming in brand new without that kind of guidance. It's been about finding my unique position in the market and continuously learning how to differentiate myself.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Figure out what you love to do every day, and build your career around that. I say this to my daughter all the time - she's 17, just graduated high school, and she's trying to figure it out right now. My advice to her is simple: What do you enjoy doing? What's something you could see yourself doing every day that you wouldn't hate? And if it starts as a hobby, something that you enjoy, just make sure it never becomes work. The goal is to create a life where what you do doesn't feel like something you have to escape from. I always say the day I start working is the day that I quit - because when you truly love what you do, it never feels like work.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think the biggest challenge is that this is a man-dominated industry. As a female coming into this industry, it's the knowledge and experience that you have to have in order to be taken seriously. This is not an area where you can just come in and pull the girl card. You have to focus on training and making a name for yourself as someone who actually knows what they're talking about. It's kind of fun - when I go to train certain contractors, I've been asked, 'Well, when's the guy showing up to train us?' And I hold my hand out and say, 'Hi, I'm Amanda.' Most people are used to it by now, so I don't really have those issues anymore. Another challenge for many people is the travel. I was traveling Monday through Friday, and I'm now only traveling two days a week, which has been a huge blessing. Most people would hate the travel, but I truly love what I do, so it makes it much easier to get up and do every day.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Your word means everything. I believe in saying what you mean and meaning what you say. If you don't know something, then just say that and let's move forward. Honesty and integrity are huge for me, especially in this industry. I always say you want to build every roof as if it's your grandmother's. So you want to give the best products, give the best pricing, give the best of everything, because that's exactly how we should always look at things. It's about doing what's right and treating every project with the care and quality you'd want for your own family.
