Her Story

About Amanda

I've spent 18 years in the energy and business facilities management industry, where I specialize in contract management covering the complete contract lifecycle - from initial bids through vendor performance and invoice payment. My work encompasses every aspect of vendor relationships for both maintenance and project contracts. On a typical day, I handle planned work like procuring known services such as maintenance plans, but I also manage the unexpected. I process internal facilities intake requests from building occupants for everything from blinking lights to event setups, allocating resources to our internal mechanics to complete the work. On the vendor side, I procure services for everything from landscaping to pest control. Financial planning across contracts and budgeting is also part of my responsibilities. I think of my role as being a liaison between other departments like risk and legal, because procuring a contract involves not just the need for it, but understanding everybody else's perspective and requirements as well.

Ten minutes with Amanda

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think a strong foundation and leadership started early in my life. My parents instilled a hard work ethic in me, and I've carried that throughout my life.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Not to be discouraged, and to really advocate for yourself. Lean in on your expertise and your ability to be seen. Create that path for yourself if it's not provided for you.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think opportunities include data centers and technical advancements with technology. The uncertainties are also an opportunity, like AI and innovations.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I would say integrity and modeling the behavior that you'd like to see in others, and demonstrating that. And empowering other people as well.
