Her Interview
Ten minutes with Amanda
01What do you attribute your success to?
My mentor has been my pillar and my rock and my support through my career. I've been able to lean on her for guidance, and effective communication, effective critiquing. She will tell me when I'm wrong, she will tell me when I've done a good job. She has been my biggest advocate, my biggest supporter, and I have learned so much from her.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Always try to leave things better than you found them. I hope that people remember me as someone who helps others grow and created opportunities for them.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't wait until you feel 100% ready to take a new opportunity. Trust yourselves, be open to learning, do not let fear lead or guide you. Find people who challenge you. Remember that you don't have to lead like everyone else. Authenticity is one of everyone's greatest strengths. You do not have to be the smartest person in the room, it is to build to have the smartest people on your team.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Competitiveness in a very competitive field. Healthcare is in a different place, forward-thinking, needs intuitive thinkers and mindset of what's next and how to accomplish goals. Making the wheel more efficient and effective without recreating it.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Not looking for awards or titles or recognition. Looking for relationships and connections, support, being a mentor or mentee. Treating people with respect, leading with empathy, and authenticity.
