Her Story

About Amanda

Amanda Jones is a dedicated operations professional and animal-care leader serving as Director of Operations at Hike Doggie Denver East. With approximately four years of experience in the pet-care industry, she has developed extensive expertise in dog behavior, pack dynamics, enrichment, socialization, trail safety, and outdoor risk management. She began her journey as a professional dog hiker, spending thousands of hours on Colorado trails and building a deep understanding of how to create safe, structured, and enjoyable experiences for dogs. Today, she oversees daily operations, including scheduling, route planning, team leadership, logistics, and client engagement.

Amanda’s professional background also includes more than 15 years of experience in office administration, customer service, and event coordination. Her education at the College of Charleston, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Hospitality and Tourism Management, provided a strong foundation in organization, service operations, and event planning. Before transitioning into pet care, she worked in events and hospitality, experiences that strengthened her ability to manage high-pressure situations, coordinate complex details, and provide exceptional customer experiences. She also earned her Fear Free Certified Professional credential in 2026, further strengthening her knowledge of canine body language and approaches for reducing fear, anxiety, and stress in animals.

Beyond her operational responsibilities, Amanda is deeply passionate about animal welfare and creating meaningful outdoor experiences for dogs. She has volunteered in animal-care and shelter settings and takes pride in helping dogs become more confident, comfortable, and engaged on the trail. Her leadership approach is characterized by resilience, organization, compassion, and maintaining a calm and level head under pressure. Looking ahead, Amanda is focused on growing Hike Doggie Denver East, strengthening its team and operations, and continuing to build a career that combines her love of animals, nature, leadership, and business with her commitment to helping dogs live happier and healthier lives.

I attribute my success to hard work, consistency, and perseverance. I believe in putting in the time and effort, even when I’m tired, facing challenges, or not feeling my best. I simply push through, stay committed, and keep moving forward.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to stay resilient, work hard, and remain calm under pressure. I’ve learned that even when managing a demanding operation, staying composed and continuing to move forward can make all the difference.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to choose work you genuinely believe in and feel confident standing behind. Loving animals is important, but it’s equally important to find a company whose culture, values, and mission align with your own.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is hiring the right people—individuals who genuinely love dogs, are responsible, committed, and passionate about providing quality care. At the same time, there are great opportunities to grow professionally by becoming certified in Fear Free training and developing a deeper understanding of dog behavior.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are resilience, kindness, and maintaining a calm, level-headed approach in every situation. I’m especially proud of my ability to stay composed and handle challenges with patience and perspective.
