Her Story

About Amanda

I graduated summa cum laude from South College in 2014 with a bachelor's in business, and I also have a diploma in psychology and certificates in marketing. After college, I worked in insurance, but then I became a stay-at-home mom for a decade. When I needed to return to work, I started door dashing and applying for positions. Nobody was responding to my applications except for insurance companies. I kept turning down insurance jobs because I didn't want to go back to insurance, but I finally got desperate. The company I'm with now reached out to me for an interview, and I fell in love with the people, the company, and the product. I started as an insurance agent in the field and have been in my operations manager role since December. Now I work from home, taking care of agents in the field, following up with clients, scheduling appointments, filing claims, and doing research. I'm basically a virtual assistant to my boss, doing whatever he needs me to do. We sell supplemental insurance like accident, cancer, heart, and ICU coverage.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to God. When I was at the very bottom, lowest part of my journey trying to get out of my abusive marriage, there were 52 days I wasn't allowed to see my kids and I was sleeping on my best friend's couch. It was God, every single day, that got me up off that couch and got me to work. I fought and found the best attorney, and the money was just there for me. It allowed me that opportunity to actually fight for my kids and find the best attorney to actually believe me and help me. My support system helped get me there, but it was all because of God. I literally screamed out to him and begged him, you have to take control, because I can't do this without you. And he did. Every single time I picked it up, something happened and gave me relief. Now I have full custody of my kids, I have a home with them, and I have a future, and it's all because of God. Vengeance is mine, says the Lord.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received comes from Jerry Ross, who says, 'Today I will do what others won't, so tomorrow I can do what others can't.' Essentially, you're going to have to put your best foot forward and do it anyways, so that you can have what you want in the future. I'm also a big fan of Eric Thomas and his motivational stuff.
