Her Story

About Amanda

Amanda LeRoy serves as National Sales Manager for Suncadia Resort, working from her home in the Seattle area to manage client relationships and book repeat annual events for the property located 90 minutes outside the city. She entered the hospitality field in 2007 following culinary school at the Art Institute of Seattle, initially aspiring to private cheffing and her own catering company before shifting to hotel roles that offered more predictable hours. Her career progressed through positions as catering coordinator, meeting concierge, and catering sales manager, culminating in nearly 16 years as Director of Catering at a downtown Seattle hotel prior to her current position. LeRoy maintains her CPCE certification from NACE and was honored with the Brian Dale Spirit of Service Award through the organization in 2024 or 2025. She has contributed to the industry through over a decade of service on the NACE board, membership in PCMA, and recent board service with the Seattle Animal Foundation.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Amanda

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think my success is all about the team and who you're working with. In hospitality and travel management sales, you're only as good as your team, and it's really important to make sure that everybody is lifted up and assisted in any way to make sure that the team goals are achieved.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

In hospitality it tends to be a little bit of a woman-dominated industry when it comes to middle management, but one of the things I loved about Suncadia when I first started there was that there were so many women in executive roles that I found it really inspiring. Any advice I'd give women starting out would just be to always picture yourself as having a spot at the top, and that if you're seeing more male faces around the executive boardroom table, that should not be discouraging, because women should take up as much space as men do.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Equal pay has been top of mind for a lot of people lately. Making sure that we get closer and closer to that end goal by seeing more women in leadership positions. Seeing more women reach the top in political avenues will also help with that.
