Her Story

About Amanda

I’ve been in my current medical sales role for about six months, working in an industry I’ve always aspired to be part of. I genuinely love sales, and I believe it’s an especially unique and impactful field within the medical space. What I enjoy most about this role is the ability to be out in the field, build meaningful connections, and ultimately help patients - that’s what truly drives me. Knowing that my work contributes to improving someone’s quality of life every day is incredibly fulfilling. When I stepped into this position, my territory had been dormant for a couple of months. Since then, I’ve been able to revitalize it by generating new accounts and rebuilding engagement. One account I personally prospected has submitted around 10 orders this month alone, and approximately 20 orders over the past three months. On a daily basis, I call on 10–12 clinics, working closely with endocrinologists and primary care physicians, as well as nurses and medical assistants, to streamline the ordering process for continuous glucose monitors. My biggest strength lies in building strong, genuine relationships. I’m highly personable, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven. I focus on making people feel comfortable, truly understanding their needs, and delivering support that goes beyond just selling a product.

Ten minutes with Amanda

01What do you attribute your success to?

God is my number one, followed closely by my family. My dad has always been a mentor to me, especially in my career - I go to him for guidance on almost everything. I’m also deeply supported by my family and friends, who have played a huge role in my journey.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t take things personally, especially in sales. It’s easy to get discouraged by rejection, but the way you interpret it makes all the difference. Instead of seeing rejection as a setback, view it as an opportunity to grow and refine your approach. A lot of people hear “no” and decide not to come back. I see it differently - it’s a chance to adjust, try a new angle, and come back stronger. Success in sales really comes down to resilience: not being afraid of rejection, staying persistent, and continuing to show up with a willingness to improve.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say the biggest key is persistence - just not giving up. It took me about three years to break into this industry, and I truly believe that if I had allowed myself to get discouraged early on, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I’m genuinely in my dream job. I wanted this so deeply, and now that I’m here, I feel incredibly grateful and grounded in it. Don’t let the “no’s” or rejection discourage you. Instead, keep showing up, keep connecting, and keep building relationships. Networking is everything and don’t burn bridges, because you never know who might be on the other side of that phone call or in that doctor’s office down the line. Most importantly, focus on being excellent wherever you are right now. Even if it’s not exactly where you want to be yet, work hard, stay consistent, and build success in your current role. That effort will always translate into future opportunities.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In my work, I prioritize confidentiality and privacy, especially since I handle sensitive patient information. I also value strong communication - being personable, proactive, responsive, and dependable are really important to how I show up professionally.

In my personal life, my faith and church are a big part of who I am. I serve as a leader within one of my church groups, and that community means a lot to me. I also enjoy working out and staying active, and I’m very intentional about my health and nutrition.
