About Amanda

Amanda Prell is a Talent Acquisition Specialist for National Sales at Convergint, where she specializes in recruiting executive-level and highly specialized sales professionals across the security industry. Her career journey reflects a strong commitment to growth and continuous learning. Amanda began in food service with Taco Bell before expanding her experience through customer service, automotive sales, retail, and financial services. She transitioned into talent acquisition at Rapid Response Monitoring, where she advanced from Talent Acquisition Coordinator to Talent Sourcer and Full-Cycle Talent Acquisition Specialist before joining Convergint. Today, she recruits nationally across more than 20 U.S. states and Canada, using a consultative recruiting approach focused on building lasting relationships, delivering exceptional candidate experiences, and connecting top talent with meaningful careers.

As a first-generation college graduate and alumna of Onondaga Community College, Amanda is passionate about creating opportunities for others while helping organizations build high-performing teams. She is an active member of the Security Industry Association's Women in Security Forum and CNY Professionals Under 40, and she continuously invests in her professional development through advanced consultative selling, service account executive, and leadership training. Amanda is recognized for her relationship-driven recruiting style, her commitment to accountability, integrity, honesty, and character, and her belief that a positive candidate experience is essential to long-term hiring success.

Outside of her professional career, Amanda leads an active and service-oriented life centered around family, community, and mentorship. She volunteers as a travel softball coach and private instructor, helping develop young athletes while encouraging confidence and leadership on and off the field. She also enjoys spending time with her chocolate Labrador, staying active through strength training, and giving back to her local community. Guided by her faith and inspired by the work ethic of her parents, Amanda encourages the next generation—especially young women entering traditionally male-dominated industries—to step outside their comfort zones, lead with integrity, and pursue every opportunity with confidence and determination.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Amanda

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success first and foremost to my faith in God and to the example set by my parents. They are some of the hardest-working, most honest, and trustworthy people I know, and they instilled those same values in me from an early age. They always encouraged me to work hard, strive to be better, and never settle for less than my best. I began working when I was just 13 years old, and those early experiences taught me responsibility, resilience, and the importance of earning opportunities through dedication. Their influence shaped my work ethic and continues to guide both my personal and professional life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of the most valuable pieces of career advice I've received is to never be afraid to take risks and go after what I want. As a mentee, I've learned the importance of being proactive rather than waiting for opportunities to come to me. Adopting an entrepreneurial mindset has helped me embrace challenges, remain adaptable, and pursue growth with confidence. I also believe that keeping faith at the center of my professional journey provides perspective, purpose, and the courage to step outside of my comfort zone.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The security industry has traditionally been described as "stale, pale, and male," but that shouldn't discourage anyone from pursuing a successful career in it. My advice is to never be intimidated by the people around you, regardless of their title or experience. Continue learning, ask questions, speak up, and be willing to step outside of your comfort zone. Your voice and perspective matter. Lead with integrity, remain confident in your abilities, and remember that authenticity, professionalism, and perseverance will earn respect and open doors.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in talent acquisition within the security industry is recruiting in a close-knit network where many professionals already know one another, making it increasingly competitive to identify and attract top talent. The industry is also evolving within a traditionally male-dominated environment while balancing the demands of high-volume recruiting and business growth. I view these challenges as opportunities to differentiate myself through relationship-building, consultative recruiting, and creative problem-solving. By focusing on the candidate experience and remaining solution-oriented, I'm able to create meaningful connections that benefit both candidates and hiring leaders.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide everything I do are accountability, integrity, honesty, character, and faith. I believe in treating others the way I want to be treated, leading with respect, and always following through on my commitments. Whether I'm working with candidates, colleagues, hiring managers, or coaching young athletes, I strive to build trust through transparency and consistency. Those principles have shaped who I am both professionally and personally, and they continue to influence every decision I make.
