About Amanda
Amanda Rodriguez serves as Regional IT Director at First Service Residential. She entered the information technology field in 2004, beginning as a hardware technician after graduating with a bachelor's degree in telecom from a technical college. Her early career included positions at a volunteer center in Los Angeles and nearly a decade at AIDS Healthcare Foundation, where she advanced from hardware technician to leadership roles. After relocating to Texas, Rodriguez joined First Service Residential as a manager and progressed to her current position overseeing a team of 11 in a male-dominated industry. She credits her achievements to remaining unafraid to ask questions, pursuing ongoing learning and growth, taking on tasks beyond her comfort zone, and cultivating relationships across teams and vendors. Rodriguez values accountability, integrity, transparency, passion, collaboration, and teamwork, and she encourages young women entering technology to act without waiting to feel fully prepared, invest in personal development through trainings and videos, and confidently voice their ambitions.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to not being afraid to ask questions, continuing to learn and grow every day, taking on things outside my comfort zone, and building relationships with different people. Technology is constantly changing so staying open to learning is key, and I raise my hand for opportunities to learn and get exposure.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell them not to wait until you feel completely ready because you probably never will. Just take the opportunity and learn as much as you can as you go, invest in yourself through trainings and videos, and do not be afraid to ask for what you want and use your voice.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Accountability, integrity, being transparent and passionate about what I do, building strong relationships, collaboration and teamwork. Sharing is caring, and I highlight teamwork not just with my core team but with other teams and vendors.
