About Amanda

I'm rolling into 20 years in my field this June, and I've spent 15 of those years in the antibiotic space, all of them working on the institutional side of things when it comes to hospitals and formularies and getting products onto the formulary and ultimately getting practitioners to utilize products. I've been with my current company for 8 years now. Prior to focusing on antibiotics, I was working in the diabetes space, and I actually became a certified diabetes educator along the way just because I wanted to have more credentialing so that when I was working in that space, I just felt a little bit more credentialed. My main area of expertise today is life sciences, and a lot of the products that I've been able to launch have all required clinical knowledge. My background includes a bachelor's in science with a major in nutrition, and that kind of just helped me build the foundation for what I needed to excel in my career path. My day-to-day involves a combination of territory management, hospital management, budget management, and different department management, from pharmacies to case managers, my clinicians in the infectious disease world, pharmacists, and home infusion pharmacy. I work with the transition of patients from the hospital to the outpatient setting, and then that takes me into the world of home infusion, working with the home health teams, and ultimately making sure that patients receive the antibiotics they need if they're going to be infused at home. These are really high-cost drugs, sometimes $5,000 for just one dose, so every detail matters. I've been a multiple President's Club winner, and I've always worked for small to medium companies where the size of representatives across the nation is typically anywhere between 30 to 50, and they usually take the top 10%, so if you can imagine, top 10% of 50 is only 5 reps. Winning multiple times with different companies has always been a pinnacle of something I can brag a little bit about myself. I've also done all of this while being a working mom and raising a family, never missing a beat when it comes to that side of things. Balancing both has definitely been challenging, but I feel like I've done a pretty good job.
