Her Story
About Amanda
I manage the food service category in convenience retail with Circle K, which means I'm responsible for buying all of the products, managing the inventory, making sure that it gets to the warehouse and then to the store, as well as handling pricing and promotional activity. I started with Circle K eight years ago as an overnight cashier and worked my way up through the company. I was a store manager during COVID, and when we started a new food program, my store was very successful with it. The director of food service at the time brought me in to be a trainer, and from there I learned category management as an analyst in package beverage. Once I had gotten enough category experience under my belt, they brought me back into food service to manage that category. I just graduated with my bachelor's degree in September of last year, and I started my MBA in November with the Jack Welch Management Institute, focusing on international business since the company I work for is international.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I really attribute my success to my family. When I started with Circle K, I had just moved back home from North Carolina. I had left a job so that I could bring my kids home to where my family lived and have that support. Their encouragement and sometimes their willingness to sacrifice so that I could chase my dreams has been the real reason behind everything I've accomplished. There just really is a reason behind it, and that reason is them.
