About Amanda
Amanda Tang serves as Senior Strategic Sourcing and Category Manager at Illumina, one of the leading DNA sequencing companies. In this role, she leads the global category and strategy team across technology areas such as software, hardware, AI, and IT technical services, as well as professional services. She directs $150 million in enterprise-wide contract negotiations and has achieved $11.8 million in cost savings and avoidance within 17 months while building and executing global category strategies to ensure supply continuity and compliance. She also mentors global sourcing managers and specialists. Prior to Illumina, Amanda worked as a global supply manager at Exact Sciences in Madison, Wisconsin, as Director of Global Operations at WeCare, and as a Continuous Improvement Manager consultant for four years.
Her career in supply chain began nearly 16 years ago after an internship in Shanghai, China, followed by opportunities in the United States involving technology hardware, software, and AI. Amanda holds an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2025) and a Master of Finance from the University of International Business and Economics (2020). She maintains certifications including contract law from Harvard Law School, AI and machine learning from Harvard University Extension Education, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from the Project Management Institute, operational risk management from the New York Institute of Finance, and a Transformational Leadership Certificate from Yale University Online Training. She is a member of the Supply Chain Association and the University of Wisconsin-Madison alumni network, and serves as an advisor to Union South, where she also provides free consulting.
