About Amanda

I'm a project manager at Key Meetings and Events, a company headquartered in San Francisco. I assist the team with all aspects of event planning, including proposals and execution. We focus exclusively on corporate events, primarily serving clients in finance and technology. Our work is global in scope, with events taking place all over the U.S. as well as internationally. While my position is mostly remote from Las Vegas, I do occasionally travel for events. I first became aware of Key Meetings and Events about 6 to 8 years ago when they were part of a destination management company global consortium, and the company I worked at would refer business with them. They've since transitioned to focus only on agency work rather than destination management. A mutual friend in the industry who was doing headhunting for them connected us, and I applied as an event coordinator. Since joining the company, I've advanced to my current role as project manager.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think I've just always had a really hard work ethic from my family, and I kind of had sort of humble beginnings. I think I have an adventurous spirit, and it took me a minute to figure out what exactly I wanted to do. When I decided that I wanted to be in the event industry, it just sort of became a very passionate goal of mine. So I think that's probably just what drives me, or what did drive me to be where I am - just working hard and wanting to live life to the fullest.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say it's really important to network, and even to volunteer, as well as looking for a mentor. Those are crucial things for me.
