About Amaya
Amaya Lavender serves as an intern brand ambassador for the Fatherhood Network, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting fathers in their children's lives. She engages in community outreach as a spokesperson, attends events such as farmers markets and dad cafes, conducts research for organizational newsletters, manages paperwork, and reaches out to partner organizations. Prior to this position, she held various roles including customer service positions. Amaya graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and is currently enrolled at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, where she transitioned from a cosmetology program to align with her career interests. She was recognized on the honor roll during middle school and high school.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I have to give all the glory to God, honestly. Without prayer and without staying in my Bible, I would not be where I am today. And without the guidance from family. Honestly, and the community and network around me has been really strong since I was a little kid, so if it wasn't for that, I would not be where I am today.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Work hard now, and you can play hard later. That really stuck with me throughout school and my professional career now.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Trust, so keeping your word with something that you say you're gonna do... Partnership and friendship. Knowing that I have a partner or a friend that I can count on... And just that like network and connection with somebody.
