Her Interview

Ten minutes with Ambar

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my team at Mills Gallery! They have supported and uplifted me in ways that matter the most, and I couldn't have done it without them.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received is from Boris Garvey, the founder, who told me the most important thing is to help others, because helping others means helping yourself. It resonates deeply as I can make a change for artists' futures and track their success, which brings me joy.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is maintaining the gallery while preparing artists for the future, especially with logistical issues like pricing for beginning artists, and creating accessibility so art is understandable and welcoming to everyone outside of art school lingo.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is very important to me, to hold yourself accountable and respect others' opinions. I also value staying positive and realistic. Structure is everything in day-to-day, maintaining deadlines and being ready for emergencies to keep everything in place.
