Amber Brand is a dedicated education leader with over 21 years of experience in K-12 education, deeply committed to access, equity, and student-centered learning. Currently serving as Principal at Poteau Public Schools, Amber has a proven track record of securing funding and developing programs that expand opportunities for students and families. Her career highlights include directing grants for after-school and summer learning programs, notably securing a $1.3 million 21st Century Community Learning Center grant—one of only seven awarded statewide—to provide free, enriching programming that supports student growth beyond the classroom.
Amber’s expertise spans program development, grant writing, and educational technology. She played a pivotal role in launching Poteau Virtual Academy, a hybrid learning model that combines in-person and remote support to meet students where they are, now serving more than 110 learners. Throughout her career as a teacher, principal, and district leader, she has focused on students often overlooked, including those experiencing homelessness, working full-time, or lacking consistent family support, partnering with colleges and nonprofits to ensure these students remain engaged and graduate successfully.
A lifelong learner herself, Amber earned her Master of Education in School Administration in 2020 and plans to pursue a doctorate focused on flexible, student-centered education models. Beyond her professional achievements, she is a proud mother of two children and a passionate advocate for education as a transformative force. Amber’s leadership is defined by compassion, innovation, and impact—demonstrating that when educational systems adapt to meet student needs, meaningful success follows.
