About Amber
Amber Burford is a home health nurse and registered nurse with over 20 years of experience in the medical field. She currently sees patients in their homes to help manage chronic conditions while pursuing a master's degree at the University of North Alabama to become a nurse practitioner. Her career began as a surgical nurse and includes experience in CBICU nursing and addiction medicine, which she has described as her favorite area. She is particularly interested in progressing into wound care as a nurse practitioner. Amber attended Wallace State community college, where she was a member of the Honor Society, and she attributes her professional perseverance to her faith, emphasizing values of honesty, integrity, and compassionate patient care.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I trust in the Lord. Honestly. That is what's kept me going. Because I know that he'll provide.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Keep doing the right thing, and it'll eventually pay off. ... if we keep doing what the Lord calls us to do. That we have nothing to fear.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't let others and what they think of you or say that you can't accomplish, don't let that be you know, the end-all. Keep going. Keep pushing, don't let people tell you no. Don't be ashamed of where you come from. It's not a definitive no. Just keep going.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty, integrity. ... Patient care is really, really, really important to me in how we treat others. We should be treating others with, you know, love, kindness, grace. That's huge for me.
