About Amber
Amber Haston serves as a Senior Manager on the government advisory services team at iBailey, based in Miami, Florida. She oversees the firm's financial management platform, working with local governments, state governments, and schools to develop long-term financial forecasts, implement effective policy and control frameworks, and conduct organizational assessments. Prior to her current role, Haston spent over 10 years in local government finance roles across various full-service cities, contract cities, and special districts in Southern California. She then spent one year at a different consulting firm before joining iBailey two years ago. Haston is an active member of the Government Finance Officers Association and serves on the Conference Program Planning Committee and the Technical and Legislative Resources Committee of the Florida Government Finance Officers Association. She attributes her success to strong mentor relationships, curiosity, and a willingness to take on challenges and figure things out, having overcome imposter syndrome and perfectionism by embracing authenticity. Haston values public service, integrity, trust, and respect in both her professional and personal life.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute my success to the value of relationships with mentors, being curious, and having a willingness to figure things out and take on challenges. I overcame imposter syndrome and perfectionism by learning the value of authenticity and trusting my ability to learn. My bosses noted that I always figure things out no matter the project.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be intentional about who you choose to work for because the right leader can accelerate your growth. Value mentor relationships and build meaningful connections. Do not confuse professionalism with perfection; embrace authenticity and trust your ability to learn and figure things out.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Public service is incredibly important to me as I am still a public servant at heart and care about helping communities thrive. Integrity is key because organizations rely on our advice for decision-making. Trust and respect are essential in both professional and personal relationships.
