About Amber
Amber Maurer serves as Accommodations and Retention Specialist in higher education, where she is finishing her 15th year and entering her 16th. She earned her clinical psychology degree in grad school and obtained her license as a Marriage and Family Therapist, originally intending to work with young children who experienced trauma. Maurer discovered her passion for supporting college students with disabilities, particularly through ADHD advocacy. She developed the Minds in Motion group to assist this population with executive functioning skills and emotional regulation, leading to a national article in Chad Magazine that recognized the program as a promising practice. She maintains memberships in CHAD and CAMFT. Maurer emphasizes continuing education due to evolving disability laws and policies, along with self-care to prevent empathy fatigue in this emotionally demanding field.
