About Amber

Amber Patterson is a property and casualty insurance professional with 8 years of experience. She started her career on the independent agency side at Howard Hanna Insurance Services, where she developed skills in customer service and specialized insurance advising. She later transitioned to the carrier side, currently serving as Business Development Specialist at American Collectors Insurance, where her typical day involves outreach to agents and brokers, supporting new business and renewals, and attending industry events. Amber holds a P and C license, the CISR designation, and CPIA, and is working toward her CPRM. Her achievements include being named a Mover and Shaker with the Insurance Agents and Brokers Association (IAMB) and winning the Outstanding CSR award for Pennsylvania with national Final Four recognition through the National Alliance. An English major in college, she values continuous learning and advises others to explore the many avenues within the insurance industry.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice that I received in regards to the insurance industry is always reach for the stars. I mean, never remain content in your current position. There's so many different avenues you can try in the insurance industry. There is a home for everyone, so find it.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Go into the industry with an open mind. You are gonna learn brand new things every day, on a daily basis. There's something to learn in regards to insurance. Before you even, like, determine, like, what you want your niche to be, go through the trials and tribulations of the industry first, and then make your decisions. Make sure you're realigning yourself as far as your career goes in the insurance industry.
