About Amber
Amber Price is a seasoned organizational change management and learning strategy executive with more than 26 years of experience helping organizations successfully navigate complex transformation initiatives. As a leader at NextGen Healthcare, she partners with ambulatory healthcare organizations, federally qualified health centers, tribal clinics, and physician practices to prepare their teams for technology and operational change, ensuring successful adoption and measurable business outcomes. Throughout her career, Amber has become known for her ability to align people, processes, and technology through thoughtful leadership, strategic education, and a human-centered approach to organizational change.
Amber's career began at the University of Tennessee in the Office of Research and Public Service, where she supported statewide contracts and played a key role in launching Tennessee's early childhood education report card initiative. The program became a lasting success and contributed to the state's rise from near the bottom of national rankings to sixth in the country for early childhood education within six years. She later transitioned into healthcare, overseeing education and change management for a 14-hospital health system and numerous ambulatory clinics during the industry's shift from paper records to electronic health records. After developing a successful organizational change management model as a healthcare client, Amber joined the vendor side, guiding healthcare organizations through large-scale technology implementations before bringing her expertise to NextGen Healthcare. She holds a master's degree from East Tennessee State University and is an IPEC-certified coach, continually expanding her knowledge to help organizations thrive in an evolving healthcare landscape.
Driven by the values of care, commitment, and clarity, Amber believes lasting change begins by listening first, understanding the root causes of challenges, and empowering people with the tools they need to succeed. She is particularly passionate about the opportunities artificial intelligence presents to transform learning, allowing technology to handle routine tasks while enabling professionals to focus on critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving. Recognized as one of the Influential Women 2026, Amber hopes to inspire the next generation of leaders to embrace curiosity, remain committed to lifelong learning, and focus their energy on creating meaningful, positive change within their sphere of influence.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Amber
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the strong support system that has surrounded me throughout my life. My mother, influential role models such as my aunt, Judge Penny White, and mentors like Kelly Pingleton have all helped shape my personal and professional journey. Their guidance, combined with a strong work ethic, a commitment to continuous learning, and persistence through challenges, has been instrumental in my success. I also believe that listening carefully to others has been one of the most valuable skills I’ve developed.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is to listen more than you speak. Take the time to understand the root causes of challenges before offering solutions, and develop approaches based on what people are actually experiencing rather than making assumptions. Focus on what you can influence and control, stay committed to learning, and lead with curiosity and purpose.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest opportunities in my field is the advancement of artificial intelligence and its potential to help us work smarter, not harder. AI can take on routine tasks, allowing people to focus on higher-order thinking, problem-solving, and meaningful innovation. At the same time, preparing organizations for large-scale technology transformations, such as electronic health record (EHR) implementations, remains both a significant challenge and an exciting opportunity to improve the way we work and deliver value.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me both professionally and personally are care, commitment, and clarity. I believe in approaching every interaction with genuine care for others, remaining committed to doing meaningful work, and communicating with clarity to build trust, solve problems, and create positive outcomes.
