Ten minutes with Amie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my professional success to the openness and trust of the families I have served, the remarkable resilience of children, and the deep sense of purpose I find in witnessing early development unfold. It has been a privilege to partner with families as they observe, understand, and delight in their child’s growth, and to translate developmental moments into shared meaning, confidence, and connection. This reciprocal relationship—grounded in trust, curiosity, and joy—has been the foundation of my effectiveness and impact in the field. The mentorship I have received from other dedicated early learning professionals before me, such as Kelly Davidson, Louise Vladivostok, and Michelle Barnes, has helped shape me into the practitioner I am today, and I will remain forever grateful for their guidance.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Take every single opportunity to advance your education! Time will pass whether you’re in learning mode or not so make sure you grasp knowledge every step of the way!

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I see my field at a crossroads: while systems still struggle with compliance-driven metrics, there’s a powerful opportunity to center relationships, equity, and reflective practice to transform outcomes for families and professionals alike.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I am guided by a commitment to dignity, equity, and relationship-based practice—I believe that when people are supported with compassion, knowledge, and trust, they are capable of remarkable growth.
