Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a lifelong influence shaped by both my upbringing and the environments that surrounded me. I was born in Saudi Arabia into a family connected to the royal family, where I was immersed early in spaces that valued art, design, and craftsmanship. Later, being raised in the Four Corners region of the American Southwest further shaped my creative lens. Surrounded by Indigenous communities, art, and traditions, I developed a deep respect for heritage, storytelling, and the relationship between people, land, and space.

I was especially influenced by my mother, whose care and intention in maintaining a beautiful, art-filled home taught me that spaces hold meaning far beyond aesthetics, they shape how we live and connect. Today, my perspective continues to expand through my family life. My husband’s Nigerian heritage has further deepened my appreciation for global narratives, texture, color, and the ways culture and identity are carried through the home.

These formative experiences led me to formally pursue interior design at the Heritage School of Interior Design in Denver, Colorado. I now proudly own and operate my own design studio, a business I have thoughtfully built over the past two years. At 37, I am fortunate to enjoy a semi-retired lifestyle that allows me the invaluable gift of time with my family while continuing to create work that is intentional, culturally rooted, and deeply aligned with who I am.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of the most impactful pieces of career advice I received as a woman in business was to look beyond the paycheck and think in terms of ownership. Equity in a healthy startup, especially one built around a truly innovative product, can create long-term freedom and generational opportunity. By doing the research, committing fully, and helping build something from the ground up early in my career, I was able to work hard when I was younger and gain the flexibility to be semi-retired at a young age. That foundation now allows me to invest my time, energy, and resources into building my own business with intention and passion.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don’t be afraid to fail. Fall if you must, but rise with intention. Dust yourself off, pivot when the path shifts, and keep moving forward without losing your fire. Learn from those who came before you, carry their wisdom with reverence, and then add your own voice so the next generation has something new to stand on.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest challenges and opportunities in my field is ensuring clients feel truly seen and satisfied in the final design. Meeting and exceeding expectations requires deep listening, clear communication, and a thoughtful balance between creativity and practicality. Each project becomes an opportunity to build trust, deliver innovative yet livable solutions, and create spaces that are both beautiful and functional, ultimately strengthening relationships, reputation, and long-term growth.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide both my work and my life are curiosity, connection, and creativity. I find joy in shared moments with my husband and daughter, wandering museums, exploring the zoo, moving through showrooms, and feeling the textures of fabric and design together. I hold my friendships with equal care, cherishing the relationships that ground me, inspire me, and bring balance and beauty to everyday life.
