About Amtul

Here's a more engaging, personal, and polished version that balances your story, accomplishments, and leadership journey while keeping it authentic:

Growing up in Pakistan, many women around me were encouraged to pursue traditional career paths such as medicine, teaching, or hospitality-related professions. While I deeply respected those paths, I felt drawn toward something different. Choosing a career in technology was, in many ways, my own quiet act of rebellion. I wanted to explore a field that was rapidly evolving and offered endless opportunities to learn, create, and solve problems.

My fascination with technology began early. In the early 1990s, my father bought me a computer, and I became captivated by how it worked. I wanted to understand what was inside it, how software and hardware came together, and how technology could be used to solve real-world challenges. That curiosity eventually grew into a career that has now spanned more than 13 years.

Today, I work at Amazon, where I support large-scale finance and transportation controllership initiatives through data analytics, business intelligence, and technology solutions. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work across healthcare, telecommunications, publishing, e-commerce, and finance, analyzing everything from patient and insurance data to telecommunications analytics and large-scale financial reporting. This diverse experience has taught me that while industries may differ, the power of data to drive better decisions remains universal.

I specialize in turning complex business problems into scalable technical solutions. As a Business Intelligence and Analytics leader, I have delivered enterprise-scale reporting platforms, automated financial processes, and managed end-to-end technical programs that support executive decision-making. I am also a certified Scrum professional and have served as a Scrum Master for more than six years, helping cross-functional teams collaborate effectively and deliver meaningful business outcomes.

One accomplishment I am particularly proud of is saving over 500 manual hours for finance teams in a single year by designing and implementing automated solutions that improved month-end financial close processes across Amazon's Global Mile, Middle Mile, and Last Mile transportation networks. Creating efficiencies that allow teams to focus on strategic work rather than repetitive tasks is one of the most rewarding aspects of my career.

My passion for learning has also led me to embrace emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI. I actively incorporate AI-powered solutions into my daily work to streamline reporting, automate workflows, improve operational efficiency, and evaluate model performance. I believe we are living through one of the most transformative periods in technology, and I am excited to be part of shaping how organizations responsibly leverage AI to create value.

Above all, I believe adaptability is the most important skill in technology. Tools, platforms, and methodologies constantly evolve, but curiosity, resilience, and a willingness to learn remain timeless. Those qualities have guided my journey from a curious girl in Pakistan exploring her first computer to a technology leader helping organizations make smarter, faster, and more impactful decisions through data.

I am passionate about encouraging more women to pursue careers in technology, analytics, and leadership. Representation matters, and I hope my journey demonstrates that it is possible to build a successful career by following your curiosity, embracing change, and having the courage to pursue a path that may look different from what others expect.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Here's a polished version that keeps your voice and message intact while making it suitable for an Influential Women profile or leadership spotlight:

One of the biggest lessons I have learned throughout my career is that confidence matters. In technology, data, and finance, it can still be challenging for women to earn a seat at the table where major decisions are being made. While progress has certainly been made, many leadership and decision-making rooms are still predominantly occupied by men.

My advice to other women is simple: know that you belong there. You are not in the room by accident. You earned your place through your hard work, expertise, perseverance, and the value you bring. Never allow self-doubt to diminish your accomplishments or make you question whether you deserve to be heard. If you have a seat at the table, it's because you have earned it.

Another lesson that has been invaluable throughout my career is the importance of communication. Technical skills can open doors, but strong communication is what drives alignment, trust, and results. I firmly believe in over-communicating with leadership and stakeholders. Making sure everyone is aligned on goals, expectations, risks, and progress helps prevent misunderstandings and builds stronger partnerships.

Communication is one of my core leadership principles. Whether leading a technical program, managing cross-functional teams, or presenting insights to executives, I have found that transparency, clarity, and proactive communication are often the difference between a good outcome and a great one. When people are informed, aligned, and working toward the same objective, teams can accomplish extraordinary things.
