What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a steadfast commitment to transparency, accountability, and honesty in every client relationship. I believe that trust is the cornerstone of lasting success, particularly in the insurance industry. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work across diverse sectors—from technology to government contracts—and have consistently adapted while upholding the highest professional standards. I value resilience and approach change with a calm, solutions-focused mindset that allows me to navigate challenges effectively and deliver meaningful results.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to lead with confidence, continuously seek knowledge, and never underestimate the power of mentorship. Surround yourself with people who challenge and inspire you, and don’t be afraid to ask questions or share your perspective. I believe in creating space for others to grow, and I encourage women to take ownership of their careers—advocate for yourself, pursue opportunities that align with your values, and trust that your voice and expertise bring real value to the table.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges—and opportunities—in my field right now is transitioning from the technical side of underwriting to a more relationship-driven approach to client management. Building and maintaining strong client partnerships requires not only technical expertise but also empathy, communication, and trust. I’ve also had to adapt to new environments and expectations across corporate, nonprofit, and government sectors, which has strengthened my versatility and broadened my perspective. Another ongoing balance is aligning my professional growth with my personal goal of staying close to family in upstate New York. Finally, working in a male-dominated industry early in my career taught me to speak with confidence, advocate for my ideas, and establish credibility through both knowledge and consistency—lessons that continue to guide me today.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me are family, balance, and integrity. Staying close to my family and maintaining a healthy work-life balance have always been top priorities in both my personal and professional life. My decision to join Gilroy, Kernan, and Gilroy was deeply influenced by their family-oriented culture and commitment to flexibility, which allows me to work remotely while continuing to grow in my career. I believe that when your professional environment supports your personal values, you’re able to bring your best self to everything you do.
