Her Interview
Ten minutes with Amy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute much of my success to the lessons I’ve learned through failure. The moments when things didn’t go as planned often taught me far more than the moments when everything went right. Each setback gave me experience, perspective, and knowledge that I could carry forward into the next challenge. I’ve learned to view failure not as the opposite of success, but as an essential part of achieving it. Those experiences have shaped my resilience, strengthened my determination, and taught me to keep learning, adapting, and moving forward.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to follow your passion. We spend such a significant part of our lives working, so I believe it’s important to pursue work that is meaningful and fulfilling. When you’re passionate about what you do, work becomes more than just a job—it becomes something that inspires and motivates you. Following my passion has allowed me to build a career around work I genuinely enjoy, and it continues to give me a sense of purpose and excitement about what I do each day.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Follow your passion, and don’t be afraid to change direction when something no longer feels right. A career doesn’t have to follow a straight path, and sometimes the unexpected turns lead to the greatest opportunities. Be willing to pivot, take chances, and trust yourself when you know it’s time for a change. It’s never too late to pursue something new, and you shouldn’t feel obligated to stay in a role or on a path that no longer makes you happy. Keep learning, stay curious, and have the courage to create a career that is both meaningful and fulfilling to you.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges—and greatest opportunities—in healthcare today is keeping pace with how quickly the industry has evolved. Technology has advanced tremendously over the past decade, but communication and understanding haven’t always kept pace. Patients are often left trying to navigate complex medical terminology, insurance requirements, multiple healthcare systems, and technology that can feel overwhelming.
That challenge is a driving force behind Maven Innovations and our flagship product, HealthRec1. Our focus is on using technology to help bridge the communication gaps between patients, physicians, hospitals, and insurance companies. With the HealthRec1 app, our goal is to put patients at the center by making their healthcare information more accessible, understandable, and easier to manage.
I believe the next great opportunity in healthcare isn’t simply creating more technology—it’s creating technology that helps people better understand and navigate their healthcare. When we can connect the different pieces of the healthcare experience in a way that empowers patients and improves communication, everyone benefits.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Balance is one of the values that is most important to me, both personally and professionally. I believe it’s important to be passionate and committed to your work, but not at the expense of your personal life. At the same time, having a fulfilling personal life shouldn’t mean losing sight of your professional goals and ambitions.
True balance looks different for everyone, and it isn’t always a perfect 50/50 split. It’s about being intentional with your time, knowing what needs your attention in each season of life, and making room for the people and experiences that matter most. I believe we are at our best when we create space for both meaningful work and a meaningful life.
