Her Interview
Ten minutes with Amy
01What do you attribute your success to?
My motivation has always been my kids. I want my kids to be proud of who their mom is. I want my kids to be able to look at all the things that I was able to fight through and still accomplish for myself. Because that's just going to help them understand that they can as well. I make sure that I work for every single thing that I have.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Be fiercely intentional about your trajectory. Because no one's going to do it for you.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Have broad shoulders. And tell yourself every single day that you can.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge I would find is landing a high-earning career at my age. Losing your career once you've entered a certain age range is twice as detrimental because getting back into that field even as an entry-level person is extremely complicated.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty and integrity are the biggest ones. I am an old-fashion(ish) person that will always believe in the golden rule. Be the kind of boss that you want to have. Be the kind of co-worker that you want to have. Be the kind of mom you wish you had. Treat people with the same dignity you could only hope to get in return. Be a good human. Be true to who you are and not what someone else is expecting you to be.
