About Amy

Her Interview
Ten minutes with Amy
01What do you attribute your success to?
My father shaped how I think about work. He came from a family of teachers, became a doctor and built his own practice — and at the point in his career when most people are winding down, he is at the top of his game. That standard shaped how I think about work. I also went straight into the workforce just two days after graduation, which forced me to learn fast and figure things out on the fly in a way that accelerated my growth more than anything else could have.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I ever received was that you'll never feel 100% ready. Push yourself anyway, step up before you're asked and take on more than feels comfortable. That's the only way you grow, and more often than not, you'll surprise yourself in the process!
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't feel like you need to show up as someone different at work. Lean into the parts of your personality that make you interesting and easy to be around. That's often times what helps build real connections with clients and colleagues, and that matters more in this business than most people admit.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The world is changing faster than anyone can keep up with. What's true today may not be true tomorrow and that unpredictability touches everything we do. It's challenging, but it's also what keeps you on your toes and makes the work fun.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Leading with empathy is important to me. In this line of work, you are often working with people under immense pressure and the ability to understand a situation from every angle, and make someone feel heard, is often just as important as the advice you give.
