Her Interview
Ten minutes with Amy
01What do you attribute your success to?
My faith in myself has to be unwavering, even in moments of doubt. It is that sureness of self with a good dose of humility. I've also been really lucky to do things that I love. If you love what you do, you're gonna fight for it.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Your faith in yourself has to be unwavering, even in moments of doubt. It is that sureness of self with a good dose of humility. You have to find that strength in yourself. Just keep going and dust it off when you need to, and fail when you need to and learn. You're the only one in charge of your destiny.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Take your agency and understand that you have it. Don't wait for a seat at the table. Take it. We wait, as women, we wait to be invited. I never wait. I just barged in. Hopefully the barging that you and I have done has created more opportunities for the next generation.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Understanding and embracing AI is a real challenge for a lot of media people and journalists. You have to master it without becoming a part of the machine. Approach it with cautious optimism. AI is reshaping the ways we do business and media. Most for the better, but some detrimental to plagiarism and First Amendment. Creativity, original thought, and human agency are what we've got to work with.
