Her Story

About Amy E.

Amy E. Rockwood is an Associate Compliance Consultant at Renaissance Regulatory Services in Deerfield Beach, Florida, where she focuses on the financial compliance sector. Her work involves researching state and federal regulations and guiding clients as they establish and maintain compliance. She is a member of the National Society of Compliance Professionals (NSCP). Rockwood earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics from Utica University, formerly Utica College, and later completed a Master’s in Law with a focus on compliance and ethics at Fordham University School of Law. Her career began in the legal field, where she served as a legal assistant at firms in Rome, Ilion, and Utica, New York. In those roles she handled Medicaid, Veterans Affairs, and estate matters, as well as real estate transactions and LLC formations. She then spent more than five years as a Senior Licensing Specialist at a local insurance company where she oversaw licensing records for thousands of producers and agencies across many states and maintained a record free of regulatory fines or lapses. Rockwood credits her success to her determination as a single mother and to the resilience she has built through life’s challenges. She thrives in collaborative settings where professionals from varied backgrounds exchange ideas and learn from one another. Beyond her career, she supports health-related causes by taking part in cancer and lupus walks and donating to lupus research, and she gives back to her community by donating children’s clothing, backpacks, and food to families and veterans in need.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Amy E.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being a single mother determined to show my daughter that dreams can be achieved despite life’s challenges. The struggles I have faced built the resilience and strength that continue to drive my achievements. I also wouldn’t be where I am today without the support from my incredible family and friends.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My mother, a business owner, inspired me with her unapologetic determination, and that example has shaped how I approach my career. I have also benefited greatly from the guidance of mentors in the legal and compliance profession, who have been instrumental in my professional development.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Lead with courage and be kind. Do your research, stay organized, and be prepared. Ask questions and ask for help, because it shows initiative. Don’t worry about whether everyone likes you, and shoot for the stars. Dress for success and put time into your appearance, because when you look good and feel good, your work reflects it.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Emerging technologies such as AI and cybersecurity present major challenges because regulatory frameworks struggle to keep pace with rapid technological change. AI poses particular risks to vulnerable populations, including scams in which criminals use synthetic voices.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In my work life I value being part of a successful team of professionals from different backgrounds, learning from them, and having the space to share my thoughts and ideas in a supportive environment.

My personal values are rooted in love, personal growth, loyalty, self-respect, and living a life that feels genuinely meaningful to me.
