About Amy

Amy Kilgore Patterson is an experienced Sales and Service Manager in the machine tool repair and manufacturing industry, specializing in precision CNC spindle repair and related equipment services. After beginning her career in human resources, she transitioned into the manufacturing sector more than 16 years ago, taking on a sales management role with a spindle repair company. Through self-directed learning and hands-on experience, she developed a strong understanding of technical equipment and became skilled at helping customers identify practical, long-term solutions for their machine tool needs. In her current work with Setco, Amy supports manufacturers and machine shops with CNC spindle repairs and services across more than 350 OEM brands, including Mazak, Makino, Okuma, and Mori Seiki. Her expertise extends to spindle remanufacturing, milling head repair, gearbox repair, precision component manufacturing, and preventative and predictive maintenance solutions. Known for her honesty, transparency, and creative problem-solving, Amy prioritizes quality and lasting results over quick fixes, building strong customer relationships through direct communication and a genuine commitment to helping customers keep their operations running. Beyond her professional career, Amy is deeply committed to wildlife conservation and rehabilitation. She operates a nonprofit wildlife rehabilitation effort from her home, providing care for injured, sick, and orphaned wildlife until they are ready to return to their natural habitats, while also volunteering with other wildlife organizations. Her dedication to both her customers and the animals in her care reflects the same qualities that define her professional approach: determination, compassion, integrity, and a willingness to go above and beyond to make a meaningful difference.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Amy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to determination, willpower, and diligence. I don’t take “no” as the final answer—I see it as “not right now.” I believe opportunities will come when the timing is right, and success comes from staying prepared, persistent, and willing to take action when they do. While the majority work assigned schedules, many continue long after the workday ends—dedicating late nights, weekends, and holidays to growing, learning, and accomplishing what seems impossible to others. When asked how I do it, my answer has always been the same: “With all that I am.”

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to take a chance on myself. I’ve learned that failure is a natural part of success, and growth requires the courage to take risks despite the fear of judgment or setbacks. Having confidence in myself and being willing to take those leaps of faith has helped me avoid stagnation and embrace new opportunities. Every mistake carries the potential to shape an expert and inspire an innovator.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Take a chance on yourself and take the leap. If you’re genuinely curious about an industry, seek out mentors and professionals who can offer guidance and insight. Take advantage of free classes, podcasts, trade shows, and networking opportunities, and don’t be afraid to reach out to people in your field through platforms like LinkedIn. Building connections and asking questions can open doors and accelerate your growth.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in my field is keeping up with the rapid evolution of AI and technology, particularly in marketing. As technology advances, I believe it’s essential to continuously expand my knowledge and adapt my skills, products, and services to meet changing demands and opportunities.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity and honesty are the values I prioritize most in both my work and personal life. I hold myself to high standards and remain committed to doing what is right, knowing that staying true to my principles allows me to live and work without regret.
