Her Interview

Ten minutes with Amy

01What do you attribute your success to?

Resilience, determination, and evolving to a place where I am confident in myself and my life experiences.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

While this advice has not brought me financial success, "Do what you are passionate about and speak your truth, even if nobody else reads it, can see, hear, understand, or believe it." Penning my story in simple words and lyrical poetry has brought me great joy and satisfaction.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Do what you are passionate about, and don't do it or anything halfway. Say what you mean, mean what you say. Follow through on commitments. Give two weeks' notice when you resign. Be respectful of everyone, even if they don't know how to be respectful in return. Be thankful for every opportunity. Don't steal time, gas, money, supplies, or anything from someone who is giving you an opportunity. Words matter- think them through before speaking them, writing them, or texting them. Choose where and with whom you choose to spend your time, money, energy, and don't apologize for those decisions if they are made with integrity and from the heart.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Finding people who follow the previous questions answer.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, honesty and presence. An active listener is one of the most valuable.
