Her Interview
Ten minutes with Amy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of consistency, relationship-building, and having a results-driven mindset. In recruiting, I’ve found that taking the time to truly understand both client needs and candidate motivations leads to stronger, more successful placements. I also stay highly focused on performance, accountability, and continuous improvement, which has allowed me to consistently exceed targets and deliver measurable results. I believe success comes from showing up every day with discipline, maintaining a positive and solution-oriented approach, and staying committed to long-term outcomes even in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. Like my grandmother always taught me, "Just keep going, because you never know what's around the next bend!"
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to stay consistent and keep moving forward, even when things don’t go as planned. In fast-paced, performance-driven environments like recruiting, there are always variables you can’t control, but maintaining focus, adaptability, and a forward-thinking mindset is what drives long-term success. I’ve found that staying resilient, continuing to learn, and consistently showing up with a positive and solution-oriented approach has made the biggest impact on my career growth.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the recruiting industry is to be confident in your voice and not underestimate the value you bring. This is a relationship-driven field where communication, intuition, and the ability to build trust are key strengths; lean into those and don’t be afraid to take ownership of your work and your results.
It’s also important to stay resilient and consistent, as recruiting can be fast-paced and results-driven. The more you focus on building strong relationships, staying organized, and continuously improving your approach, the more successful you’ll become over time.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges and opportunities in recruiting right now center around market volatility and evolving candidate expectations. While companies are being more strategic and cautious with hiring, top candidates are also more selective, which makes alignment and timing more critical than ever.
At the same time, advancements in AI and recruiting technology are creating opportunities to improve efficiency, sourcing strategies, and overall hiring processes. The key is finding the right balance by leveraging technology while still maintaining a strong, relationship-driven approach that ensures quality hires and long-term success.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In both my work and personal life, I value integrity, accountability, and strong relationships. I believe being transparent, following through on commitments, and treating people with respect are the foundation of long-term success, especially in a relationship-driven field like recruiting. It's also important to have a passion for what you do, have fun, and laugh as often as possible.
I also value a positive, solution-oriented mindset and a strong work ethic. Staying consistent, adaptable, and willing to support others not only drives results, but also creates a collaborative environment where people can grow and succeed together!
