Her Story
About Amy
Amy Powell provides consulting services to the construction industry in Colorado. She helps professionals translate feelings into words to foster more productive jobs, projects, careers, and organizations, with a focus on emotional intelligence, leadership, and communication training. As an alumna of the CSU Construction Management Program, she currently chairs its Executive Council. Powell has built a large event in northern Colorado that allows approximately 700 high school students to explore diverse career paths in the industry, whether through college or other routes. She founded Well Works and authored a book after reaching points in her career where she decided to take initiative herself, driven by her inner intuition and instincts rather than external validation. Powell advises young women entering the industry to stop ignoring their gut, instinct, and inner wisdom when determining what is right and worth fighting for.

Ten minutes with Amy
01What do you attribute your success to?
The drive is from within, it's that intuition. I've joked because three of my major accomplishments throughout my career have been because I get to a point where using that other gal's term, F it, you know? I'll do it myself. That's why I built Well Works. That's why I wrote my book.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Stop ignoring your gut and your instinct and your inner wisdom. Know down in your gut what's right and what to fight for and use that. Don't ignore it.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Stop ignoring your gut and your instinct and your inner wisdom. Know down in your gut what's right and what to fight for and use that. Don't ignore it.
