Her Story
About Amy
I've been in sales for close to 25 years and have been doing consulting and training for the past 7 years. My company, Sales and Presence, focuses on communications and sales training. We work with teams and companies both internally and externally, helping them communicate more effectively. On the internal side, we work with teams within companies. On the external side, we train sales teams and high-level executive teams on how to engage with clients and communicate outwardly. I have 17 years of experience specifically in direct B2B sales. My most notable professional achievement is my book 'Connect to Close,' which just launched on Tuesday and is currently number one on Amazon. I'm certified in nonverbal communication, which informs my approach to training. My company also has a charitable arm called S&P Care, where a portion of proceeds from every client engagement goes directly to nonprofits.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Amy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to supporting others along the way. Throughout my career, helping and lifting up other people has been central to what I do and how I've grown professionally.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is to speak up, even if you feel like you're not ready. This advice has shaped how I approach my work and has given me the courage to contribute and make my voice heard, even when I didn't feel fully prepared.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to do it before you feel like you're ready. Whether that's speaking up, entering a room, or contributing to a conversation, don't wait until you feel completely prepared. Take action and put yourself out there even when you have doubts about your readiness. That's how you grow and make an impact.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field right now is going up against AI and technology. However, that challenge also creates a huge opportunity. The fact is, we connect as humans and always will. We can leverage that human connection as an asset to support our conversations and relationships. While technology is advancing, the human element of communication and connection remains irreplaceable, and that's something we can use to our advantage in how we work with clients and teams.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are authenticity, curiosity, and boldness. These three values guide how I approach my professional work and how I live my life outside of work.
