Her Interview

Ten minutes with Amy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to determination, focus, persistence, and refusing to give up on my professional goals. My career has included unexpected changes and setbacks, but I have continued moving forward and pursuing work that genuinely matters to me. Having a supportive family has helped on this journey. Joining a company I had wanted to work for since college reminded me that career goals may not happen on the timeline we expect, but staying dedicated and persistent can eventually create the right opportunity.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to seek out mentors in upper management and learn from people who have achieved the kind of success I aspire to. Throughout my career, I’ve observed successful leaders to understand how they communicate, make decisions, and navigate their careers. Mentorship provides valuable perspective and helps me identify the skills I need to develop to reach the next level of leadership.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to stay determined and never give up on their goals. Block out the outside noise, stay focused on what you want to achieve, and keep moving forward with confidence and persistence. Also know that you can be kind and strong at the same time.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is inflation and rising costs. It is increasingly important to balance maintaining quality with affordability, while continuing to meet consumers’ needs and expectations.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are determination, creativity, growth, perseverance, family, continuous learning, and being a good person. I believe in staying focused on long-term goals, even when circumstances change, and continuously learning from successful leaders and experiences. Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my teenage daughter visiting bookstores and coffee shops together, and going on local scenic adventures with my boyfriend.
