Her Story

About Amy

Amy Sirdorues serves as sales manager at BenQ in Kansas City, Missouri. She began her automotive career in 1993 as a nighttime receptionist at McCarthy Morse Chevrolet before moving into sales and various roles at the dealership. Over the years, she gained experience in special finance in Oklahoma City, opened a business development center in Houston that ranked first or second nationally, served as used car director with Sonic Automotive at Baytown Ford, and opened her own independent pre-owned dealerships in Texas. After Hurricane Harvey in 2017, she transitioned to the vendor side, working with Westlake and then Carfax as a national account manager before joining BenQ. Her path has been shaped by the School of Hard Knocks, and she is recognized as one of two female used car directors at Sonic Automotive and as number one national account manager. She volunteers with Uplift in Kansas City by cooking meals for the homeless.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Amy

01What do you attribute your success to?

The drive to do better and reach back to give a hand up to others. Learning to define success beyond just selling cars, remembering how you made people feel, and leading with kindness to build relationships with customers and teammates.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Just keep going. In sales and automotive, you will get a lot of no's before a yes. Do not take it personally and keep moving forward. This is especially important for women in this male-dominated field.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay true to yourself and show up every day with a hunger to learn and do better. Know that women often have to do it two times better to be noticed. Do the next right thing, be curious, ask questions, and stand up for yourself respectfully to earn the respect of peers.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Everything is changing so quickly with technology and AI. The challenge is adopting it thoughtfully to see if it will help grow the business long-term rather than just adding another tool. The opportunity is to step back, clean the lenses, and approach with a people-first mentality to win.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Keeping the side of my street clean so I do not have to worry about the other stuff. Doing the next right thing considering how it affects family and teammates, ensuring intentions are pure and open. Pausing when agitated or in fear to avoid adverse ripple effects.
