Her Story
About Amy
I am the CEO and founder of Intentional Clarity, a coaching business I started full-time in September of last year after coaching part-time for over 8 years. I help professionals transition to fulfilling careers, working with clients nationally and even internationally. My most notable professional achievement thus far has been starting my own business and leaving the corporate world. My coaching approach is rooted in my personal experiences - I've been in recovery for 10 years and have lost over 200 pounds, achieving huge personal goals that inform how I help others both personally and professionally. I'm very passionate about helping women in addiction, as it's a personal struggle I've overcome. Being in recovery and having faith are cornerstones of who I am today and how I've been able to make big choices like building this new business. I understand that people are often unhappy in their careers because of various struggles, and they're using coping skills like drinking too much or eating too much. I've been there, so I try to help both personally and professionally wherever I can. The biggest challenge in coaching right now is helping people understand that my true intention is to be helpful, not just to sell something. Connecting with people online and piercing through doubt and skepticism, especially with AI coming into the world, is something I work to overcome every day.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Amy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of self-discovery and great family support. I've built a community of friends and mentors that lift me up and push me to keep being my best and not living in my comfort zone. They push me beyond my comfort zone so that I keep growing.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't quit, never give up, and get mental help or help with whatever your dream is.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The challenge in coaching is being able to help people understand that my true intention is to be helpful, to help them with something. My goal is never the outcome to sell something. It's a challenge sometimes to listen to people and try to convey that they may have a deeper problem. I ask questions and try to uncover those problems, and it comes off as I'm just trying to sell something and I'm not really trying to help them. So for me, that's the biggest challenge - connecting with people online, especially, because we're doing it through online means right now. There's so much negative and fake content with AI coming into the world, and people are skeptical. So kind of piercing through that doubt and discomfort with people right now, I think, for me, that's the biggest challenge.
