Her Story

About Amy

Amy Toth leads the permitting team for turnkey projects at a telecommunications company based out of Canada. She has held this role for almost two years. Prior to her current position, she served as a team lead in the network design department at the same company. Earlier in her career, Amy spent ten years at another telecommunications company. She later took time away from the industry to homeschool her children for five years while working night shifts at a hospital. During her time at the hospital, she started in housekeeping, moved to the operating room, and advanced to assistant operations manager of a one-of-a-kind surgical suite, where she worked in anesthesia as an anesthesia tech. Amy attributes her drive and success to her natural curiosity, inspired by her experiences as a mother and nanny, and she advises young women entering the industry to trust and believe in themselves and follow their instincts.

Ten minutes with Amy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think when I was young, a child, even, what I wanted to be when I grew up, first and foremost, it was always that I wanted to be a mom. I was a nanny for a family for a long time. The mom of the family that I nannied for, she's a doctor. She's absolutely brilliant. When I saw how hard she worked for her family, but also for her patients, but for her career, you know, she's super educated. She is just a naturally very curious woman. I'm a very curious person as well, which I think is one of the reasons why I love children so much. Being a mom and raising kids, it gives you the opportunity to explore those curiosities. That curiosity and having children young and keeping that curiosity has played a big role in who I am today.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To trust and believe in yourself and follow your instincts.
