Her Interview
Ten minutes with Amy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the journey, including the detours, difficult decisions, raising three children, spending 15 years in the corporate world, and putting my wedding-planning aspirations on hold at times. Each experience strengthened me and prepared me for the next opportunity. I’ve learned that you don’t have to know what you want to do forever—you only need to focus on what you’re doing today. Sometimes, the most beautiful destinations come from taking an unexpected detour.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to consistently give the extra 1%—doing the small things others may not be willing to do. Success rarely comes from one big action; it comes from the small extra efforts that compound over time. Going the extra mile, especially when others decide they’ve done enough, can ultimately set you apart from the competition.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to look beyond social media appearances. A beautiful Instagram presence doesn’t always reflect expertise or experience. Focus on building genuine knowledge, strong relationships, hands-on experience, and a solid understanding of how the business really works. Some of the hardest-working professionals may not post constantly because they’re busy serving their clients and growing their businesses.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in wedding planning is helping clients distinguish experienced professionals from those who simply create beautiful content online. I see an opportunity in educating couples that true luxury is not just about how beautiful a wedding looks, but how seamlessly it is managed behind the scenes. Every wedding brings unexpected challenges, from weather changes to major logistical adjustments, and each experience strengthens my ability to anticipate problems, create solutions, and deliver a successful event.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Trust and integrity are at the heart of both my professional and personal life. I value people’s time and believe that showing up when you say you will and following through on your word are some of the greatest forms of respect. Reliability matters to me because when someone is counting on me, I want them to know I’ll be there, and I value that same commitment from others.
