Her Interview

Ten minutes with Amy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I was once told if it weren't for somebody else, I would be nothing. So every day I hear those words, and it continues to push me. Really, I've got... I'm a single mom of two kids, making sure that they have what it is that they need to succeed, so providing for them daily, making sure that they have the experiences, not just the stuff in life, and giving them the toolbox that they need to use for their future to be able to build their lives.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Be understanding. Understand that each person It's really within the walls of their work, with it for 8 hours a day. But everything that happens outside those four walls, that's where real life happens.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Continue to learn. Every day. There is something new to learn. No two days will ever be the same. Take advantage of that opportunity. Broaden your skill set.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

My current position? Learning an entirely new skill set. Sales, business development is very different than the operations side. Operations, I feel I could do in my sleep. It's where I always have something to do. In business development, I am making sure that others have things to do. I have to create the things to do.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Accountability and leadership. So, leadership, I don't feel, has to be done just within the professional space, I think it can certainly be done within the personal space as well. Leadership within the community. Have what it is that they need to succeed.
