About Amy
Amy Webb is a professional in the supply and manufacturing industry serving as an on-site service representative with Grainger. She prefers to focus on direct customer work and observing the tangible results of her efforts rather than moving into management positions. With experience spanning aerospace at Genesis Aerospace, where she advanced from quality to electronic technician over eight and a half years through hands-on training without formal schooling, and prior roles including field engineer at VideoJet, Amy emphasizes the importance of showing up reliably to build skills. She notes that her field remains male-dominated but highlights the strong support network among women in similar roles. Amy has expressed interest in fine-tuning her current position and potentially training new team members as her area expands.

Ten minutes with Amy
01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You can get a degree. School is not the path for you. Find anywhere that has an internship or is even a little bit open to training, and as soon as you show that you show up every day, you don't call in, that they can count on you, they're gonna be like, this is a reliable person, we want to train her. You can do anything. Anything men can do, we can do it.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge probably is it is more of a male-dominated field and that does pose an obstacle in a way. But if you just keep showing up and you just keep doing it then you can work through that. The women that are in this field support each other so much. We understand there's not as many women in this field, we've got each other's back.
