Her Story
About Amy
I began my career 15 years ago as an apprentice in project controls in the defense sector before transitioning into rail infrastructure. Throughout my career, what I'm most proud of is developing high-performing teams and supporting women through their careers. I earned my degree in business studies from the University of Central Lancashire in the UK in 2011, but honestly, my on-the-job learning has been much more key to where I am today. I was a nominee for Woman of the Year at the UK Women in Rail Awards in 2022. I'm originally from England and moved to Nevada about 18 months ago. My interests include animal welfare, ice hockey, and skiing.

Ten minutes with Amy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say absolutely my network. Strong mentors have been crucial, and to be honest, women and peers that I looked up to have made all the difference in my career. Building those relationships and having people to learn from has been the foundation of everything I've achieved.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice for me is to build a network and to use it. That was something that, when I started out, I found it very uncomfortable, I didn't really understand it, and then, obviously, as your career moves on, it's absolutely amazing to then become the person that's the catalyst for others as well. You know, like, paying it forward, and that was honestly the best career advice I've ever had.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Absolutely, advocate for yourself, get involved in the women's programs in your business, because they always exist. And do not let people speak for you in meetings. Always have a clear goal as well. Be clear with your career goals. I think people say hard work is enough, but if you're clear with your career goals and you have a path, people tend to help you achieve that.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I would say honesty is huge. And advocate for yourself. Those are the values that guide everything I do, both professionally and personally.
