Her Story

About Ana

I've been in the health and wellness field for around 13 years. I used to work in IT for 20 years, but I got certified as a nutritional coach, so I bring the expertise both of the nutrition side and understanding the life my clients had, because I was there. I have a personal history of losing 88 pounds, almost 90, almost 15 years ago, and I've kept it off. After being on every possible diet, supplement, pill, and treatments, I found simplicity to be my best ally, and just building healthy habits, just one day at a time. Having been in my clients' shoes and understanding their busy lifestyle is what I attribute my success to. I understand what they are thinking and what they're going to do because I was there.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to having been in my clients' shoes and understanding their busy lifestyle. I understand the mentality of eating less and moving more, trying to eat very little and trying to work out harder, because I was there. I have a personal history of losing 88 pounds, almost 90, almost 15 years ago, and I've kept it off. After being on every possible diet, supplement, pill, and treatments, I found simplicity to be my best ally, and just building healthy habits, just one day at a time. Because I understand what my clients are thinking and what they're going to do, I can truly help them.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is to trust in your abilities to figure things out. I got this advice from a book called High Performance Habits by Brendan Bouchard.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice would be to trust that your body needs food. It's not about eating less. You are allowed to eat, because sometimes women believe that we need less than men, and that carbs are the enemy, and that we need to run or do spinning classes or just a lot of cardio. In reality, that doesn't really help. Our bodies get super stressed when we don't eat and when we overwork out our bodies. My invitation would be not to be afraid. Get an assessment on how much you should be eating as a woman, regardless of your age. There's certain calories your body needs to feel safe, and once your body feels safe, then you will get to your goals.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges is removing the old beliefs that women need to eat less and do more workouts, even when not feeling like it. Another belief is that you have to be tired, that it's okay to be tired all the time, which it isn't. The other challenge is the belief that only Ozempic or GLP-1 mimics can help you lose the weight. There are natural ways, and if you're doing Ozempic, that's totally okay, but there are natural ways that you could help your body with. There are solutions out there. You just need a little bit more guidance and structure and trusting the process. It's not going to come overnight, but once you understand it, you're gonna keep it for life. And the goal is not to lose weight, it's to be strong and healthy.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are honesty, respect, and simplicity. Simplicity is part of what I do, which is simplifying and removing the confusion around nutrition, what's healthy, what to eat, when to eat, how much to work out, and removing all the BS around nutrition.
