Her Story
About Ana
I believe that great construction is about more than buildings, it's about creating spaces that improve lives, strengthen communities, and leave a lasting impact.
For more than 10 years, I've had the privilege of contributing to projects across New York City, from iconic high-rise developments to affordable and supportive housing that serves individuals and families in need. As an Architect and BIM/MEP Coordination professional, I enjoy bringing people, technology, and construction together to solve complex challenges and help projects succeed.
I'm also passionate about empowering others. Through BTG Latinos™, I share knowledge and resources to help Latino professionals better understand the U.S. construction industry and build meaningful careers.
My goal is simple: to continue building with purpose, leading with integrity, and creating opportunities for the next generation of professionals.

Ten minutes with Ana
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to consistency, persistence, and a commitment to continuous learning. Transitioning from architecture to a more engineering-focused career was intimidating, and I often questioned myself early on. Instead of giving up, I kept learning through courses, mentors, and hands-on experience. I believe that staying curious, embracing new technologies, and continuously improving my skills have been the key to my growth and success.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received is to never let someone else's experience intimidate you. There will always be people with more years in the industry or different expertise, but instead of comparing yourself, learn from them. Ask questions, stay confident in your own abilities, and don't be afraid to speak up. Growth comes from being willing to contribute while continuing to learn.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't let the construction industry intimidate you. While there are more women entering the field today, there are still environments where you'll be one of the few women in the room. Remember that you earned your place there. Trust your knowledge, stay curious, keep learning, and have the confidence to speak up. Your perspective is valuable, and the industry is stronger because of diverse voices and leadership.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Construction continues to be a male-dominated industry, so one of the biggest challenges can be earning credibility, especially early in your career. I've learned that preparation, technical knowledge, and consistency speak louder than anything else.
At the same time, I see a tremendous opportunity in the growing role of BIM and digital collaboration. As a BIM Coordinator, I help bring architects, engineers, contractors, and field teams together to identify and resolve conflicts before construction begins. It requires not only technical expertise but also strong communication, leadership, and the ability to unite people around a common goal. I believe those collaborative skills will continue to shape the future of our industry.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me are organization, integrity, accountability, and collaboration. In construction, organization is essential because every decision can impact the project and the people involved. I believe in doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, and taking responsibility for my work and decisions. Most importantly, I believe that no successful project is built by one person alone, great results come from collaboration, communication, and trust.
