Her Story

About Ana

Ana Rincon serves as a technical consultant with Abbott, a medical device company, where she has worked for the past six months, and as a part-time clinical associate faculty member at Arizona State University for the past year. Her healthcare career began in 2018 as a nurse assistant, followed by earning her nursing license in 2022. She has focused on nursing education for the past year and a half. Rincon graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor's degree in nursing in 2022 as part of the honors program with a minor in integrative health. She later earned a master's degree in nursing education from the same university in 2026, supported by a fully funded grant. Her areas of specialization include cardiovascular nursing, primary care, preventative medicine, and ongoing chronic support for cardiac conditions. She maintains active memberships in the American Holistic Nurses Association (Arizona chapter), the American Nurses Association, and co-founded the Arizona State Holistic Nurses Association chapter. Rincon is also pursuing certification as a nurse educator and volunteers with organizations such as Integrative Touch for Kids in Tucson and Freedom to Work in Phoenix. She is fluent in Spanish and attributes her success to the support of her family, friends, and community.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Ana

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the community around me, especially my family and friends who have been huge motivators and sources of support during stressful times like when I was working three jobs while in school. They knew when I needed a break and provided inspiration and motivation.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've received is that if it's not hard, it's not worth it. This means it's important to be challenged in your work because that's how we grow as individuals. There's nothing wrong with reaching a goal and enjoying it, but then it's time to find the next challenge, whether it's a new skill, leadership position, or certification, and to keep growing and learning constantly.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Nursing has endless opportunities beyond the hospital. You can go into education, administration, leadership, or work with medical device companies. Use your background and apply it in different fields. If a role isn't right, you can pivot because there are so many possibilities. Nursing is a people job, so enjoy working with people.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Community, family, and friends are most important, providing a sense of purpose as part of a bigger group. Self-care is crucial, especially for nurses who care for others, because an empty cup means nothing left to give, affecting both professional and personal lives. Empathy is also key, actively practiced not just with patients but with everyone.
