Her Story
About Anastasia
Anastasia Davis serves as Director of Residence Life and Student Conduct at Lenoir Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina. With over 9 years of experience in higher education and residence life, she began her career as a graduate resident coordinator and has advanced through roles at six institutions, including predominantly white institutions, a minority-serving institution, mid-sized publics, and small privates. She particularly values the intentional connections and supportive environment found at small private institutions. In her current role, which she has held for just over a year, Davis leads strategic visioning for the Department of Residence Life, manages housing conduct, advocates for student needs and well-being in residential communities, handles room assignments and billing, and supervises two area coordinators. Throughout her career, she has built structure in departments lacking it, including creating three residence hall associations and developing departmental manuals. Davis is heavily affiliated with SEAHO, the regional housing association, and the Appalachian Colleges Association. She is currently working toward her doctoral degree, with a goal to graduate next June.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be yourself, be willing to be a sponge. Soak in the information as you're first getting in. Learn the culture of the institution, the students and the processes. Be there a full year before advocating for changes. Ask a lot of questions and be willing to be adaptable.
