About Andi

Andi Manning is a field office manager, field administrator, and field clerk with 13 years of experience in gas and oil construction. She travels across the United States working for various gas companies and contractors on pipeline projects, handling responsibilities such as job books, audits, payroll reconciliation, hire-ins, and terminations. Manning started her career in the industry as a laborer and member of the Laborers Union local 1076, serving as a bending engineer's helper before transitioning to office work based on her administrative experience from her father's trucking company. She has taken OSHA safety classes to expand her opportunities and values a strong work ethic above all. Manning attributes her professional drive to her two successful children, aiming to demonstrate that hard work pays off and that a single mother can succeed through dedication. She advises being approachable and lending a helping hand while recommending that young women entering the male-dominated field act like a lady to earn respect.

Ten minutes with Andi

01What do you attribute your success to?

Probably my two kids. They are very successful and I'm beyond proud of them. I want to show them that hard work still pays off and that a single mother can work hard. I want to keep on truckin' and show them I'm working as hard as they do.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Just to be approachable. Be approachable, lend a helping hand, help everybody. Everybody needs help at some point so why would you do anything other than that.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Act like a lady. If you're gonna deal with in a man's world and that's what this is. I work in a man's world. You can't be anything but a lady to get the respect that you need. So they will work with you and help you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The women on these jobs are horrible. They're worse than the men because the jobs are competitive. There are times where I've worked with other women in the office and the majority of them don't want to make sure that they stay on the job or they get the next job and they're not nice.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

A good work ethic is mandatory. That's non-negotiable.
